The Role
Enrich the lives of all Fairtree stakeholders by providing excellent client service. Contribute to the organisation’s growth and success while deepening our relationships with existing and potential investors.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain client and potential client relationships.
- Manage direct client queries, transactions and approval of special client requests.
- Evolve retail client services function to ensure we deliver all client services in excellence across our various client touch points.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, provide feedback on client interactions and proactively drive continuous improvement.
- Manage, develop and grow client services team, which includes recruitment and the development of individual growth journeys for team members.
- Establish and maintain client servicing standards and infrastructure to ensure excellent client service delivery, e.g. CRM system, Docfox, telephone systems, and website chat.
- Liaise and integrate with the management companies of our funds on all client-related queries and transactions.
- Establish and manage TCF outcomes, e.g. complaint management.
- Act as Section 42 Compliance Officer. Develop, document, maintain and implement a programme for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing risk management and compliance for all clients.
- Drive efficiency and client service excellence at all times.
Skills required to ensure success in this role include
- Excellent written and verbal client communication skills.
- Leadership and relationship management skills to manage and lead a team and liaise with internal and external stakeholders and service providers.
- A track record of excellence – hardworking and detail-oriented with a firm commitment to excellence.
- Being a team player and a good communicator with a belief in strong, open and honest relationships.
- Self-starter with a proactive can-do attitude.
- Adaptable and flexible with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CRM and telephone systems skills.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or similar.
- Client service and systems experience within a fast-paced environment.

About the Fairtree Graduate Programme
The Fairtree Graduate Programme is an exciting opportunity for graduates to gain experience and grow at our multi-asset firm and learn first-hand from our investment professionals.
The Fairtree Graduate Programme is a bespoke 12-month training programme designed for graduates to broaden their skills base, including technical and soft skills development, and kick-start their careers in the asset management industry.
The 12-month graduate programme will commence in January 2023, with shorter periods or delayed starts considered for exceptional cases.The relevant qualifications, competencies, attributes and fit with the team and the Fairtree culture are critical.
Requirements
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- South African citizenship.
- A valid SA driver’s license is essential.
- EE candidates are preferred.
Qualifications:
Risk Intern:
- Bachelor’s degree with Investments, Actuarial, Finance or Statistics as the major subjects. Coding skills are preferred but not essential.
Solutions Intern:
- B.Comm specialising in Investments, Maths, Statistics, or Actuarial.
- or B.Sc in Physics or Maths
Operations Intern:
- Bachelor’s degree in Investments or Finance with Accounting as major subject.
- Hons / Postgrad diploma would be preferred.
- Specific interest in middle office operations (controls over security transaction processing and checking the integrity of portfolio management system).
Marketing Intern:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
Competencies and attributes:
- A track record of excellence, including strong academic performance.
- An interest in business and investments.
- Strong numerical ability.
- A questioning nature and an analytical mind.
- Being a team player.
- Self-starter with a proactive can-do attitude.
- Clear, concise writing skills.
- A good communicator with a belief in strong, open and honest relationships.
- Adaptable and flexible with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Important Terms of the Bursary
- You must be a South African citizen and studying towards a qualification in: Investments, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Economics, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science (BSc). You may not amend your course of study without prior written consent from the Company.
- You will be encouraged to maintain an average of 60% for the duration of your course of study and will be required to provide regular reports in this regard.
- The bursary is for the full academic period at a single academic institution.
- You will be required to enter into a bursary agreement with Fairtree. The agreement will provide more detail and the remaining terms and conditions upon which the Bursary will be awarded to you.
