About the Fairtree Graduate Programme

The Fairtree Graduate Programme is an exciting opportunity for graduates to gain experience and grow at our multi-asset firm and learn first-hand from our investment professionals.

The Fairtree Graduate Programme is a bespoke 12-month training programme designed for graduates to broaden their skills base, including technical and soft skills development, and kick-start their careers in the asset management industry. 

The 12-month graduate programme will commence in January 2023, with shorter periods or delayed starts considered for exceptional cases.The relevant qualifications, competencies, attributes and fit with the team and the Fairtree culture are critical.

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • South African citizenship.
  • A valid SA driver’s license is essential.
  • EE candidates are preferred.

Qualifications:

Risk Intern:

  • Bachelor’s degree with Investments, Actuarial, Finance or Statistics as the major subjects. Coding skills are preferred but not essential. 

Solutions Intern:

  • B.Comm specialising in Investments, Maths, Statistics, or Actuarial.
  • or B.Sc in Physics or Maths

Operations Intern:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Investments or Finance with Accounting as major subject.
  • Hons / Postgrad diploma would be preferred.
  • Specific interest in middle office operations (controls over security transaction processing and checking the integrity of portfolio management system).

Marketing Intern:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Competencies and attributes:

  • A track record of excellence, including strong academic performance.
  • An interest in business and investments.
  • Strong numerical ability.

The Role

 

Enrich the lives of all Fairtree stakeholders by growing and evolving the Fairtree brand and creating awareness, resonance, liking and trust while delighting our stakeholders with their engagement with the brand at every touch point. As the marketing and communication specialist, develop and execute marketing plans to deliver on strategic marketing objectives. Act as brand custodian and ensure the consistency of brand execution in line with the required CI of the brand, visual language, look and feel and brand tonality. Ensure the cross-channel integration of marketing activities and campaigns and oversee marketing and operational projects. Evolve and implement content marketing strategies and plans.

 

Responsibilities

 

-Develop and execute marketing plans while overseeing marketing projects and cross channel-integration of marketing activities.

-Use your writing and editing skills to create relevant and engaging content for our target audiences and leverage the content across multiple marketing channels.

-With a client-centric focus, gather information to synthesise and distil key messages to target audiences.

-Develop and implement effective marketing communication strategies that build brand awareness and client satisfaction – internally and externally.

-Write and edit impactful and engaging content that effectively delivers for marketing and various stakeholders, audiences, and channels, ensuring a consistent brand tonality, messaging, and business objectives.

-Ensures marketing communication messaging and materials are high quality, accurate and relevant to the target audience.

-Manage an integrated marketing content and communications calendar.

-Track and analyse metrics related to content performance and engagement to guide effective sharing and define future marketing communication strategy and development efforts.

-Drive efficiency and marketing excellence at all times.

 

Skills required to ensure success in this role include

 

-Marketing channel integration - an understanding of the different marketing channels and how to integrate communication and campaigns.

-Communicating complex concepts – knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarisation and simplification techniques to explain complex technical and financial concepts in simple, clear language and tonally appropriate to the audience.

-Copywriting and editing - knowledge of copywriting and editing; ability to write, review and edit texts and documents to promote marketing.

-Marketing strategy and positioning - knowledge of market research, segmentation, and channels - including the ability to implement marketing strategies, objectives, and tactics and establish a communications plan.

-A track record of excellence - hardworking and detail-oriented with a firm commitment to excellence.

The Role

 

Enrich the lives of all Fairtree stakeholders by contributing to the organisation's growth and success and deepening our relationships with various stakeholders. As the DDQ and Reporting Specialist, reporting to the Head of Distribution Services who reports to the Head of Distribution, you will service all information requests from existing and potential clients about Fairtree and our products.

As part of the distribution team, you will utilise your experience and communication skills to timeously respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs) and other reports in excellence – delivering high-quality, consistent, and concise quantitative and qualitative information to clients and consultants. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and previous experience working in a fast-paced fund management firm on DDQs and RPFs or similar documents.

 

Responsibilities

 

Content development and delivery:

-Collaborate with colleagues to identify and interpret information requirements, including completing DDQ, RFP, specialist investment reports, ad hoc questionnaires, and similar information requests.

-Supporting the monthly Minimum Disclosure Document (MDD) production process, including finalising commentary with internal stakeholders and data checking.

-Liaising with the various stakeholders to draft, refine and finalise responses.

-Support customisation of external client requirements or specific questions and draft new responses for peer review.

-Complete quarterly UCITS regulatory board reports and bespoke client reports.

-Support the ESG analyst to report on ESG matters, and the development and completion of all ESG reports.

-Check more advanced client queries and ad-hoc reports and perform other ad-hoc tasks supporting the distribution team.

 

Database content management:

-Independently create original content for peer review, or update existing content based on emerging requirements or new areas of client focus.

-Stay abreast of product branding and positioning developments to ensure that funds are positioned with clients accurately and with the appropriate messaging.

-Actively use and develop automation tools, including monitoring and building new knowledge base (Qvidian) content at the vehicle/product/organisational level.

 

Interpersonal & development:

-Knowledge sharing - share and transfer product, process, and systems knowledge to colleagues. Share success stories, trends, and ideas. Bring any issues to the attention of the Head of Distribution Services and resolve these.

-Collaborate and work with teams to deliver required service in excellence.

-Ensure your performance and growth objectives are achieved by developing your Fairtree Individual Growth Journey to facilitate personal and professional growth.

 

Education and experience

 

-Bachelor’s Degree. BCom (Hons) degree preferred.

-At least 3 years of experience in distribution and client reporting within the fund management industry.

-Understanding of institutional and retail distribution channels, plus a good knowledge of financial markets.

-Familiarity with DDQ content management (Qvidian or similar).

-Content writing experience within fund management RFP, operational due diligence or analytically based financial content writing.

 

Skills and attributes required to succeed in your role

 

-Good verbal and written communication skills, plus strong proofreading skills.

-Meticulous attention to detail across all aspects of data, language and grammar, general layout and presentation of information.

-Being process driven, good at problem-solving and innovative.

-Self-starter with a proactive can-do attitude.

-Adaptable and flexible with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

-MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Qvidian (or similar). Experience with automation tools will be advantageous.

The Role

Responsibilities

· Build and maintain client and potential client relationships.

· Manage direct client queries, transactions and approval of special client requests.

· Evolve retail client services function to ensure we deliver all client services in excellence across our various client touch points.

· Work closely with internal stakeholders, provide feedback on client interactions and proactively drive continuous improvement.

· Manage, develop and grow client services team, which includes recruitment and the development of individual growth journeys for team members.

· Establish and maintain client servicing standards and infrastructure to ensure excellent client service delivery, e.g. CRM system, Docfox, telephone systems, and website chat.

· Liaise and integrate with the management companies of our funds on all client-related queries and transactions.

· Establish and manage TCF outcomes, e.g. complaint management.

· Act as Section 42 Compliance Officer. Develop, document, maintain and implement a programme for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing risk management and compliance for all clients.

· Drive efficiency and client service excellence at all times.

Skills required to ensure success in this role include
